We have spent some time looking at the posts from the past year that had the top views and helped the most people. Let’s recap them here for you.

Resume Tips to Land the Perfect Job.

In June we discussed some important resume tips to keep in mind when crafting your information for a job search. A resume is your first impression and far too often job seekers don’t pay enough attention to the details. We provided some important things to know about resume format, what information to include, and what to leave off. We reminded candidates to be sure to include all important contact information, the dates of employment, and accomplishments rather than duties. Using these tips you can put together a resume that will get a hiring manager’s attention for all the right reasons.

How and When to Announce You Quit.

Not all jobs are the right fit and it is important to know when to cut those ties and how to do it professionally without burning bridges. In July we shared these “dos and don’ts” so you didn’t find yourself in a sticky situation without the proper support. We gave 7 steps to quitting the right way including who to speak with first, how to give the proper notice, and why you shouldn’t do an exit interview. We also caution out-going employees to continue work at their usual performance level and to return all company owned tools and materials before the last day.

Addressing Your Biggest Weakness in a Job Interview.

Finally, in August we posted this information about how to handle questions about your biggest weakness when you were sitting across from a hiring manager. We understand that this is probably the single most nerve wracking question a candidate can be asked so we wanted to provide tips to help calm nerves and give a leg up. We gave three common “weaknesses” and offered ideas for turning them around without sounding disingenuous. For example, if organization is your main issue let them know that sometimes you struggle with it but you have been working on specific aspects such as taking five minutes at the end of each day to clean up your work space.
